The height of this long and low dog is 13-15 inches at the shoulder. It weighs about 40-60 pounds. The velvety ears are extremely long and velvety. The tail is carried above the line of the back. Neither ears, nor tails are altered in the breed.

Basset Hound Waddle -

The breed originated in the 1500s. It is a scent-trailing breed that was developed by French nobility to hunt small game. The bulky body and short legs make this breed indispensable in dense cover.
