These dogs possess a peculiar appearance and an interesting temperament. Long, pendulous ears, short legs, long, low to ground body, and somewhat droopy eyes are the hallmarks of the breed. The dogs have a deep, sonorous bark. Kept as family pets, they still preserve the instincts of scenting hounds, and should be supervised in the street.
